Kanda 1 · Verse 1
विद्मा शूरस्य पितरं पर्जन्यं शतंवृष्यम् । तेना ते तन्वेश्चं शं करं पृथ्वीयां ते निषेषचं बहिष्ठे अस्तु बालिते ॥ १ ॥
May we know the father of the mighty one, Parjanya, the hundred-strengthening rain. By that, may your body be filled with well-being and peace, and may your dwelling on Earth be abundant and flourishing.
Kanda 1 · Verse 1
स्तृवान्मग्निं आ वह यातुधानां किमीदिनम् । त्वं हि देव वन्दिते हन्ता दस्योर्भूविविध ॥ १ ॥
Refulgent Agni, ruler and commander, round up the malignant, crafty, flatterer, go getter who does not value life. You alone, honoured and celebrated, are the destroyer of negative, antisocial evil forces of cruelty and destruction.
हे पूजनीय देव, आप ही अग्नि को धारण करने वाले हैं, जो राक्षसों और पिशाचों का नाश करते हैं। आप ही डाकुओं के संहारक हैं और पृथ्वी पर विविध रूप धारण करते हैं।
Kanda 1 · Verse 1
स्वस्तिदा विशां पतिर्वृत्रहन्ता विमृधो वृशी । वृषेन्द्रः पुरं एतु नः सोमपा अभयङ्करः ॥ १ ॥
Giver of felicity and well being of life, ruler, protector and promoter of the people, destroyer of evil, darkness and ignorance, shatterer of enemies, controller and manager of all powers and forces of the world, generous and virile Indra, ruler of the world, may, we pray, go forward and, as harbinger of the soma peace and pleasure of life, bless us with freedom from fear in a free and fearless environment.
यह श्लोक इंद्र देव की स्तुति करता है, जो कल्याणकारी, प्रजाओं के रक्षक, वृत्र का वध करने वाले, शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले, बलवान, सोम का पान करने वाले और अभय प्रदान करने वाले हैं। वे हमारे लिए सुख और सुरक्षा लेकर आएं।

इयं वीरुन्मधुजाता मधुना त्वा खनामासि । मधोरधि प्रजातासि सा नो मधुमतस्कृधि ॥ १ ॥
You are born of honey, and with honey we dig you. You have arisen from honey; make us also honey-sweet.
यह लता मधुर फल देती है, हम इसे मधुरता के लिए खोदते हैं। यह मधुरता से उत्पन्न हुई है, इसे मधुरता से युक्त बनाओ।

Iyam vīrunmadhujātā madhunā tvā khanāmasi. Madhoradhi prajātāsi sā no madhumataskṛdhi.
This herb is born of the honey sweets of earth. O sweet herb, we take you up with the honey sweet of love and gratitude. You are grown and matured by the honeyed efficacy of life and nature's evolution. Such as you are, pray sweeten our life with the honey sweet of joy and graces of culture. अप्स्सु मे सोमोऽब्रवीद्न्त्त्वर्विश्चानि भेषजा। अग्निं च विश्वशम्भुवम्॥ २ ॥
Apsu me somo abravīdarntarviśvāni bheṣajā. Agnim ca viśvaśaṁbhuvam.
जल में स्थित सोम ने मुझसे कहा, "मेरे पास सभी प्रकार की औषधियाँ और सभी का कल्याण करने वाला अग्नि है।"
Kanda 1 · Verse 2
आज्यस्य परमेष्ठिञ्जातंवेदस्तनूवशिन् । अग्ने तौल्स्य प्राशनं यातुधान्न्वि लापय ॥ २ ॥
Seated in the highest position, all knowing, self controlled, Agni, taking measured and balanced part of ghrta from us, objective and balanced in judgement of what you receive, punish the negatives and make them repent.
हे अग्निदेव, घी से उत्पन्न हुए और वेदों के ज्ञाता, जो इस यज्ञ में आहुति देते हैं, वे राक्षसों को नष्ट करें।
Kanda 1 · Verse 3
वि लपन्तु यातुधानां अत्रिणो ये किमीदिनः । अथेदमग्ने नो हविरिन्द्रश्च प्रति हर्यतम् ॥ ३ ॥
Let the antisocial forces that sneer, chatter, disvalue and eat up the resources of society lament, and then you and Indra, wielders of the bolt of justice and
हे अग्निदेव और इंद्रदेव, जो राक्षस और दुष्ट आत्माएं हैं, वे चाहे जो भी कहें या करें, आप दोनों हमारे इस यज्ञ में अर्पित किए गए हविष्य को स्वीकार करें और प्रसन्न हों।
Kanda 1 · Verse 6
शं नो देवीरभिष्टया आपो भवन्तु पीतये। शं योर्भिः स्रवन्तु नः॥ १ ॥
Śaṁ no devīrabhiṣṭataya āpo bhavantu pītaye. Śaṁ yorabhi sravantu naḥ.
हे पवित्र जल, हमारी सभी इच्छाओं को पूर्ण करने वाले बनो। हमारे पीने के लिए सुखदायी होओ और हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी धारा के रूप में प्रवाहित होओ।
Kanda 1 · Verse 25
यद्गग्निरपो अदहत्प्रविश्य यत्राकृण्वन्-धर्मधृतो नमांसि । तत्र त आहुः परंम् जनित्रं स नः संविद्वान्परि वृङ्ग्धि तक्मन ॥ १ ॥
When the fire entered the waters and consumed them, where the upholders of Dharma offered salutations, there they declared the Supreme Creator. May that knowing One protect us from fever.
यह श्लोक कहता है कि जहाँ अग्नि जल में प्रवेश करके उसे जलाती है और जहाँ धर्म का पालन करने वाले लोग नमन करते हैं, वहाँ वे उस परम जन्मदाता को पुकारते हैं। हे सर्वज्ञ, उस परम जन्मदाता से प्रार्थना है कि वह हमें ज्वर (रोग) से बचाए।

आरे सवस्मादस्तु हेतिदेवासो असत् । आरे अस्मा यमस्यथा ॥ १ ॥
O Devas, potent forces of offence and defence, may that attack you launch upon the enemy be far from
हे देवगण, हम सभी को बुराई से दूर रखें। यमराज (मृत्यु के देवता) भी हमसे दूर रहें।

यदाबन्धन-दाक्षायणा हिरण्यं शतानीकाय सुमनस्यमानाः । तते बन्ध्याम्यायुषे वर्चसे बलॉय दीर्घायुत्वाय शत- | शारदाय ॥ १ ॥
